What is a spokesmodel?  

A spokesmodel promotes Dana Moss Photography to their peers by word-of-mouth. Spokesmodels refer as many seniors of the class of 2014 to DMP as they are able, and get rewards for their successful efforts.

What spokesmodels receive:

• Free model session with other spokesmodels
• Free or discounted senior session

• Featured in DMP marketing materials
• A chance to be the cover model on DMP magazine

Requirements:

1. Be outgoing, energetic, motivated and enjoy being photographed
2. Have a Facebook profile (I communicate with my spokesmodels through Facebook)
3. Must have your senior portraits taken by DMP (cannot promote or represent any other photographer/studio)
4. Post status updates on Facebook at least 2-3 times a month about DMP
5. Refer friends and pass out spokesmodel cards
6. Sign a model release
7. Have parents permission

• Sam’s favorite candy is Sour Patch Kids (man, I love those too).

1. How was Glossa Makeup born?

While living in LA and visiting my family at home here in Cincinnati I realized that there are only a dozen of really good professionally trained makeup artists. I felt like the women of Cincinnati were starving to learn how to feel their most beautiful naturally and to know all the “tips and tricks” I had learned while working in LA. Glossa first started out with just me, but then as the years have gone on I have found a few other girls with the same business ethic and artistic policy of bringing out
natural beauty as I value. Don’t get me wrong, we can do drama too but we believe young ladies and women are beautiful with their own look and we want to highlight that first and foremost.

2. Why is professional makeup so important for professional senior
portraits?

Related to my answer above, each of us has our own natural beauty. How many times have we looked at pictures in magazines and said “wow what horrible makeup or what bad hair” Just as Wedding Photos, Senior Pictures are capturing a moment in your life you will remember forever. We want to help that senior look back at their pictures and say “WOW, Look how fresh and beautiful I looked!”

 3. What should a senior bring with them when they show up for makeup?

They should have a fresh face, clean and nothing on it. If they have a particular hair accessory they would to use, bring that and if they have any pictures of other peoples makeup they specifically want bring those too.

 4. What’s some of your favorite products in your makeup bag?

LIP GLOSS!!! I Love the way it looks and I am such a kid, I particuarly love the ones that smell and taste good too. I also love individual fake eyelashes. They look really natural. Tinted Moisturizer is also a favorite of mine. Especially Laura Mercier and NARS tinted.

5. Where do you like to shop?

Like all makeup junkies I like to go to high end counters such as Nordstrom and Saks or Sephoria. I have found however in this day and age a lot of cosmetic companies have great deals online.

6. How can a senior prep there skin before their session?

If they can splurge for a nice facial a week ahead of time, that is always great BUT we are all on budgets these days…So there are a few things they can do at home.

1) Exfoliate with a light exfoliation a few days before getting all the dead skin off. I would use something mild like St. Eves Apricot Scrub.

2) A day or two before, make sure they moisturize well. Even if they have oily skin, use oil free moisturizer. Try not to dry out skin.

3) On my Blog www.glossa.tumblr.com I have a few recipes for some “masks” its nice to do one of those a day or two in advance.

7. How would you describe your signature look?
Fresh, clean, simple, beautiful, naturally bringing out the clients beautiful self.

 8. What made you decide to be a makeup artist?

When I was 8 years old I was in a CCM production at UC where the graduate students turned me into a rabbit every night. I was in makeup for an hour or so a night transforming into my character. At that moment I thought it was the coolest thing I had ever seen and decided to be a makeup artist.

 9. What do you love the most about it?

Everyday is different. One day I am working on a Zombie for a film project, the next day doing a trial run with a bride, the next day outside for a Senior picture shoot, the next day at Riverbend working on a music artist for a concert. It is ALWAYS different and I love that aspect.

All of these things have one thing in common, I am helping people feel and look their absolute best. When you feel good about how you look it shows in the way you carry yourself and helps create a memorable experience.

10. Have you done makeup for any celebrities?
Yes of course between LA and Cincinnati I have been fortunate to meet and work with some really great ones. While training in LA they told us never to talk about “who we have done” good or bad. But I will have to secretly admit one of my favorites was Adam Lavine from Maroon 5. He was so nice and funny and he of course is very very handsome!

11. Tell us something fun about you!
I am secretly a “tom boy”. I love to go fishing, ride 4 wheelers, watch football, follow supercross and extreme sports. I could go on. Its fun sometimes to let go and enjoy the masculine and feminine sides of life. I believe a healthy balance is very important.
